Joan L. Mahoney, State Apiculturist for NYS Department of Agriculture and Markets has provided inormation from the NYS DEC that approved a 2EE recommendation which will allow for the use of oxalic acid and glycerin in an extended use delivery method with cellulose pads. This method will give beekeepers one more tool to help keep varroa mites in check.
In providing back up information for the NYS DEC on this method, it was noted that some of the research showed inconsistent results in mite control. She strongly recommend that anyone using this method, check their mite counts once the pads are removed. Click below for a copy of the 2EE recommendation and the most recent label.
