Young Regality: A Day in the Life of a Honeybee Queen

In this presentation, Dr. David Tarpy emphasizes why it’s important for beekeepers to become knowledgeable about the biology of bees and queens.  Understanding why bees do what they do teaches us how to work more effectively with our colonies.

He highlights studies that show important implications for the health and survival of a colony based on how well-mated their queen is, referring to their ability to withstand and fend off disease as well as the strength of the colony at season’s end.
