Bee Yard Visits

Experienced beekeepers can invite SABA members to their bee yards to observe how hives are inspected, treatments are applied, honey is extracted, etc.  These visits provide hands-on opportunities for less experienced beekeepers to learn techniques for working with honeybees.  Less-experienced beekeepers can also invite SABA members to their bee yards to get advice and support from fellow beekeepers.

Bee yard visits can be as simple or elaborate as the host prefers.  You can have a specific task or objective or leave it more open-ended.  You can limit the event to bee yard activities or host a potluck snack or meal afterwards.  If you have limited space, you can specify the maximum number of participants who can attend.  If you are concerned about the weather, you can schedule a rain date.

To Schedule a Bee Yard Visit:  Fill out the following form to announce your visit and describe the type of event you would like to conduct.  The form will be sent to our bee yard visit coordinator, Cindy Elsenbeck, who will post it on the SABA event calendar.  Your contact information will be posted with the event so participants can call/text if they get lost or need any additional information.

Everyone who attends your bee yard visit will be expected to register for the event in advance on our website.  This will ensure that only SABA members attend the event and help you anticipate the number of people who will be coming.  Participants will be instructed to bring their own protective clothing (veil and gloves) and hive tool.

If you have any questions, contact Cindy Elsenbeck at support@sababees.org.
