Rick and Gretchen Krohn are local beekeepers specializing in incredible honey, hygienic queen rearing, and nucs.  They run around 47 hives with supers and have 25 overwintered NUCs started for next spring. This is Rick’s tenth year of beekeeping! All the bees are in Montgomery County, most of them are in the Town of Florida (3 yards) and 1 yard is in the Town of Amsterdam. Gretchen is in charge of making skincare products with the beeswax and honey, and helping Rick with the bees if needed. Rick’s mentor, Dr. Carl Jurica, used to raise queens and he taught Rick a lot about raising queens. The book Rick recommends for queen rearing is “Queen Rearing Essentials” by Larry Conner.
